During the period 1998-2018, the global marine pharmaceutical preclinical pipeline involved research with more than 1,000 marine chemicals which demonstrated antibacterial, anticoagulant, anti-inflammatory, antifungal, anthelmintic, antiplatelet, antiprotozoal, and antiviral activities; actions on the cardiovascular, endocrine, immune, and nervous systems; and other miscellaneous mechanisms of action.
